Youth Work & Wellness Fair - This event has already occurred

Event Details:

Connect Youth and John Howard Society of Kingston along with South
Grenville District High School, Mrs. Sloan and the parent council
would invite you to take part in our annual “Youth Work and Wellness
Fair.”

This event will take place at South Grenville Districts Highschool and
will allow students to connect with community agencies that could be a
source of support. We also would like to connect them to local employment
hiring service for summer, part-time post graduate opportunities. This year,
we would like to also connect with parents to provide resources they can
access for their children, so we will do an evening session too.

Details:
Date: May 7th, 2024
Time: From 9:00am until 2:00pm (set up 8:30am)
Evening: 6:00-7:30pm (set up 5:30pm)
Location: South Grenville District Highschool – Gym A/B

What to expect:

There will be a light breakfast and lunch/dinner provided.
Please feel free to bring a table covering, marketing materials and company
swag or games to share and engage with the youth.

Community Agencies:

We encourage you to bring an information poster on
your agency and the services they provide. An important detail for
youth/parents is the referral process and how they can best access your
services. Also take this time to advertise your upcoming events and
initiatives they could take part in. Engaging activities are also encouraged!

Local Employers:

We encourage you to bring descriptions of current
positions that you are hiring for. If you know the positions you are hiring for,
feel free to share them so we can advertise to the students to spark interest.
Get excited to with job seeking youth and collect resumes from potential
candidates. This is also a wonderful opportunity to pre-screen candidates
through first impressions and asking some brief questions related to the
position.

We will be planning a scavenger hunt for youth to participate in which will
enter them into a draw to win some prizes. How could you help us out with
this activity would be to send us a question about your agency/company
upon registration. We will make a bingo card with the collected questions
and youth will ask these questions at your booth. Once they have discovered
the answer someone at your booth can sign off on their bingo sheet. Once
their sheet is completed, they can submit it into the draw for prizes. This is a
terrific way for students to break the ice and start a conversation at your
booth.
